Film Submission Policy

Film Submission PolicyThank you for considering submitting your film to CAFX.dk. To ensure a smooth submission process and optimal viewing experience, please adhere to the following guidelines:

1. Eligibility Criteria

  • Duration: Submissions should not exceed the duration specified in the open call.
  • Language: Non-English films must include English subtitles embedded in the video file.

2. Submission Materials

  • Film File: Ensure your film meets the technical specifications outlined below.
  • Film Title: The title of your film in English.
  • Synopsis: Provide a brief summary of your film (up to 150 words).
  • Director's Bio: A short biography of the director (up to 100 words).
  • Poster Image: High-resolution JPEG or PNG file.
  • Trailer (Optional): A link to the film's trailer, if available.

3. Technical Specifications

Video Settings

  • Codec: Use H.264 for Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) videos and HEVC (H.265) for High Dynamic Range (HDR) videos.
  • Resolution: Match the original video resolution. Common options include:
    • 1080p (1920x1080): Recommended bitrate: 5-10 Mbps.
    • 4K (3840x2160): Recommended bitrate: 20-30 Mbps.
  • Frame Rate: Maintain the source frame rate (e.g., 24, 25, 30, or 60 FPS). Avoid frame rate conversion unless necessary.
  • Aspect Ratio: Preserve the native aspect ratio of the video (commonly 16:9).
  • Bit Depth: Use 8-bit for SDR and 10-bit for HDR videos.

Audio Settings

  • Codec: AAC-LC (Advanced Audio Codec).
  • Channels: Stereo (2 channels).
  • Sample Rate: 48 kHz.
  • Bitrate: 320 kbps for optimal quality.

Additional Notes

  • File Format: MP4 is the preferred format for uploads.
  • Maximum Resolution: The platform supports resolutions up to 4K or 8K depending on the duration and the specifications detailed in the open call.
  • Compression: Avoid excessive compression to ensure high-quality playback.

4. Submission Process

  • Platform: Submit your film through FilmFreeway, ensuring all required materials are included.
  • Deadline: All submissions must be received by the deadline specified in the open call. Late submissions will not be considered.

5. Selection and Notification

  • Selected films will be notified via email.
  • Due to the volume of submissions, individual feedback cannot be provided.

6. Terms and Conditions

  • By submitting your film, you grant CAFX.dk the rights to screen your film during the festival and use excerpts (up to 30 seconds), stills, and information for promotional purposes.
  • Ensure that all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions have been obtained for all elements of the film.
