The breath of Tashkent

This short story is about the current state of one of the oldest cities in Central Asia - Tashkent. The film contains a small exposition about Tashkent, shows its old and new parts, its atmosphere and beauty. Also the film reveals the theme of the actual problems of the city, which are inherent in all developing cities of the world.

Places like home
Our short film investigates matters of urban spaces and their perception and critically approaches their potential for the adaptation of new residents. The particular potential of becoming a new or a second home to each individual. How easy is it to achieve this effect, and how can we measure this city's quality? Can the urban landscape define notions of home, and what properties of the city's spatial organization can create a homelike atmosphere? The notion of home is very personal to everyone, it is hard to quantify, but the concept is united by a strong shared sense of values. Home means a friendly place, a comfortable one, accessible and open. Such a perception can contribute to the natural development of both young people and adults. This story is about two friends who recently moved from their native Kyiv to Berlin and Warsaw and faced the need of adaptation to the new context, both cultural and urban. We reflected on the process of interaction with the new urban environment, up to the point where the new city and its architectural landscape started to shape the sense of a home.

Swinging around the World
How many things can we do on a swing? Having fun, Relaxing, resting, laughing, meeting people, reading, admiring the landscape, moving, playing, feeling like a child, ... The Swings are free, accessible and inclusive for everyone. Is possible to found the swings all over the World in different shapes, colours and sizes, surrounded by the natural sounds of the nature. In this film i mix together some of my videos made traveling with my mother (75 years old) while we go on the swings of my favourite cities.

Reclaiming The Streets
The streets of Baku used to be full of kids and young people filling them with joy and now we are reclaiming the streets for the use of different human activities! The film is mostly shot in the central streets of Baku where roads are very narrow and cars are allowed to park and commute. Sidewalks are insanely narrow and interrupted by many parked cars and artificial plants. The street design makes it very hard to walk and pass by.
