In this talk, Strelka Institute Program Co-Director Nicolay Boyadjiev responds to CAF x 2021's yearly theme by addressing care and caretaking through their "infrastructural" dimension, discussing how long-term enabling technical systems of care and collective networks of support are embedded within the artificial landscapes we call "cities", and how such interdependence shifts our perspective on these concepts and expands the required scope, scale and agency of our ongoing tending to the built environment. More specifically, he will present the conceptual drivers, design-research method and latest cinematic projects outcomes emerging from The Terraforming, Strelka Institute's postgraduate interdisciplinary think tank investigating the past and future role of cities as the planetary network by which humans occupy the Earth's surface.
The event is organised by the Master's Programme Urbanism & Societal Change at The Royal Danish Academy - Architecture, Design, Conservation. Moderated by Christine Bjerke.
